Although I had attended the previous session on Cloud Computing by Mr Shabbir Ahmed aka Shabbir Bhai, I was still in some doubt related to some of the concepts regarding this growing terminology. They were all cleared when I was present at this session taken by Shabbir Bhai. The same concepts introduced in a new way and delivered with excellence.

The first question was obvious: What is Cloud Computiong????

An easy question now for those who were present, but a tough nut to crack for many others. A question that might seem easy to think about but very difficult to explain. He explained it in a very concise manner that even a layman would understand it without any difficulty. Several other topics covered were the characteristics, service models and the deployment models of Cloud Computing. The service models include IAAS, PAAS, SAAS while deployment include the public, private, community and hybrid models. Along with the in depth details about cloud Shabbir Bhai also explained the pros and cons of implementing Cloud Computing. These were explained from the perspective of a CEO and a CTO of any organization.

We all might describe the Cloud in different terms according to its application in our field. The roles played by the Cloud in our environment may be different as well, but in unison it is simply reshaping the relationship between the supplier and the consumer, and hence goes with a very rightful definition: ‘Cloud Computing is just a new way of delivering and utilizing IT resources, and not a new Technology’.

Lead speakers for this event were Shabbir Ahmed (MVP) and Bharat Gupta (TechEd Rockstar) who covered every details of Virtualization along with a sneak peek of Cloud computing as well.

First session which was taken up by Shabbir Bhai, was a sneak peek of what cloud computing really is. Then he also explained the theory behind Virtualization. It involved Virtual Memory Manager, Hypervisor, types of hypervisors (based on structure and implementation), requirements and other basic knowledge on the same

There was a small test conducted by the volunteers and the top 15 results were to be given a free voucher for the certification exam.

After the review of Cloud session we were given in-depth knowledge by Bharat Gupta on what exactly a hypervisor is, its planning and implementation. Being a newbie in virtualization has difficult time for me to understand all of it but all my doubts regarding it were cleared.

After lunch he gave a detailed view on how to configure the parent and the child, the authorization manager as well discussing some techniques for high availability provided by virtual machines

First day concluded with a small demonstration from Shabbir Bhai on virtual switch.

Second day started with a Q & A round; so as to clear all the doubts regarding the previous day.

Then we moved onto understanding what a system snapshot is and it’s implementation in hypervisor.  Along with that, importing and exporting VMs from different machines.

Then we had a major topic on The SCVMM 2008 R2. A practical demonstration was given by Mr. Bharat on how SCVMM worked and also explained some different features of the product. Some of it included its integration with Hyper- V cluster, library, data processing capabilities, profile and its integration with SCON.

After a brief snack, Ashwin Sir announced the winners of the test that had been conducted the day before. Congo to all of them who are selected….!!!

After that, Mr. Bharat resumed to explain about Self Service Portal and the advantages offered by it, followed by P2V and V2V conversion and powershell management which brought an end to his part of the day…..A great amount of knowledge delivered in the simplest way possible.

To end the day, Shabbir bhai discussed on some very important topics that generally people would leave thinking as less important (exam point of view). He discussed about configuring remote desktop role services infrastructure.

Personally, me being new to virtualization, I understood many of the topics and all my doubts were cleared by both the speakers. Thanks to both of them for these two days and also to MumbaiItPro for bringing back this wonderful event once again.

It enjoys widespread application in many sectors like IT, ITES, Aviation, Shipping, Automobile, Construction etc. It is also known as a systematic method for improving the operational performance of an organization by eliminating variability and waste (“sigma” stands for standard deviation from the mean in a normal distribution) and also focuses on optimum usage of resources and maximizing profits allowing structured process improvement program for achieving virtually zero defects (3.4 parts per million) in manufacturing and business processes.

Six Sigma seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) in manufacturing and business processes using a set of quality management methods. It creates a special infrastructure of people within the organization (“Black Belts”, “Green Belts”, etc.) who are experts in these methods.
Each Six Sigma project follows a defined sequence of steps and has quantified financial targets.

Microsoft Tech-Ed 2012, the largest Technology Event in India  covers over 100 break-out sessions, conference for hands-on learning, deep product exploration and opportunities to connect with industry and Microsoft experts one-to-one.

The Ground field was full of session boards… you might get confused what to attend, what to learn, what to do and finally, where to start.

It’s really confusing for somebody like me who fall in both categories IT Professional and Developer. If I go for Windows 8, I have to give-up Windows Server 8… If I want to learn  ‘Building a Better Web’, I have to forget ‘Reimaging Desktop Deployment’. Nevertheless, I collected my Tech-Ed Media / Press Passport and  attended day’s first Session ‘Windows Server 8 Technical Overview’ by Aviraj Ajgekar.

After session, i thought, leave session…. let’s have some fun.

There was an opportunity for free certification on Virtualization (070-659, 70-400) and Microsoft Office Specialist for 300 and 500 attendees on 1st come first serve basis. I appear for both exam under the guidance of ‘Shabbir Ahmed and Bharat Gupta’ and successfully cleared certification…. so i’m now Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist and Office Specialist. On 21st March Eve, i was part of User Group conference meet along with other User Group leads / Members and learned what it takes to run an user group like Mumbai IT Pro or any other.  And on second day, had a delicious dinner with Microsoft Staff, MVPs, User Group Leaders at Oko Pan Asian restaurant, Lalit Ashok. On 3rd Day, we acknowledged what Microsoft want to hear from us / User Groups, MVPs, Student Partners in a Meeting with DPE Evangelism Director – Harish Vaidyanathan.

These 3 days were awesomest things to experience, got a chance to meet Industry people, knowing there lots to learn, understanding how we can build a better society with these Technologies, choosing a perfect opportunity swinging around us. Overall it was a perfect package, it was a great experience, really enjoyable.

The Point is Technology will come and go, there always be an another Tech-Ed, but there’s one thing every attendee should know ‘Tech-Ed is all about 3 things – Goodies, Goodies, Goodies’ . Yeah, you hear me right, Microsoft deta hai chappar phad ke. This time Microsoft was giving away Windows Phone, Windows 8 Tablet, Certifications, T-shirts, Traveling Bags and many more. Not only Microsoft, other firms like Nokia, Intel, Plural sight, Plantronics etc.. were also in the list.
