Hi Fellas,
Would again like to share my experience and walk-through of the yet another successful event conducted by MITP this season.Must say, inspired by India's First F1 race held at BIC ( Buddha International Circuit) this year; Yes! MITP is back with a BANG!!! We are back again on track after a short pit-stop moment and accelerating far ahead, attaining greater speeds to beat the fellow user-groups. :)
And mind you guys, this is not just another false claim / boasting of ourselves. We really are back with a vengeance this time.
To support my statement and analogy, the MITP community yet again successfully finished the next lap this Saturday, 26th November 2011 by conducting a great session on 'Understanding Cloud Computing' at Microsoft Office, Mumbai.
This time we had two speakers for the aforesaid event providing their insights on the topic. Our very own Mr. Shabbir Ahmed, who recently was awarded with 'MVP – Exchange' award. For those who don't know, MVP – is a prestigious award by Microsoft for outstanding contribution by individuals pertaining to various microsoft products and technology. Secondly, we had an ex-MSP, Mr Abhay Parekh delivering for the first time with MITP.
Now let me talk about the session itself. Umhh, 'Cloud' is the latest buzz word in the tech industry these days. There is a huge interest by various professionals, IT-Pro's, IT-Evangelist and Experts on this topic called 'Cloud-Computing'. But the 'CLOUD' seems to be too "CLOUDY" for many of us despite knowing and hearing about it. This session as the name suggests "Understanding Cloud Computing" was solely meant to clear-out this cloudy-bubble from the minds of the people and clear various myths associated with the term.
Shabbir Bhai- started with stating the scope of session (which was purely from a cloud service provider and consumer point of view), helping us understand the managerial (rather, non-technical) aspect of Cloud Computing, its benefits and pit-falls, and then giving us a few technical insights about the topic. It started with the basic question of What is Cloud Computing? The answer for which was given at the end of the presentation and this was so wisely done which left the audience to think and kept their right side of the brain functioning. We alos covered the essential characteristics associated with Cloud, Various Cloud Service Models- IaaS, PaaS & SaaS and Cloud Deployment Models which includes builiding a Public, Private or Hybrid(mixture of two) Cloud. We also talked about the associated risks with Cloud Computing- Tech Risks, Market Risks and Economic Risks etc. Lastly, the question was answered to the audience which gave a clear picture of what CLOUD Computing actually is, clearing all their myths and doubts on the topic.
The next topic covered was "Microsoft Azure" – a well-known and widely used product from Microsoft which helps in achieving Cloud Computing for an organization or a SME. By just installing and learning the Azure platform, one can completely move to CLOUD. Wow, isn't it cool. This alongwith few other tech insights was explained and shared by Mr. Abhay Parekh.
After attending the whole session, i get too learn a key thing with all the doubts cleared in mind that - 'CLOUD Computing is just a new way of delivering and utilizing IT resources, and not a new Technology'. This is so true. I mean it did persists in the industry from past 6-8 years, but no one was utilizing and using it optimally like it is being used now.
The session concluded with a surprise for the audience. Windows XP Celebration!!! :)
We, the MITP team celebrated ten years of successful completion of Windows XP after its launch. Aahh, we had a blast really by cutting the cake specially designed to include the Microsoft Logo :)
Pictures to be uploaded soon….Also expect a separate article on this celebration alonwith loads of pictures.
It was indeed awesome to have Mr. Aviraj Ajgekar, IT-Evangelist from Microsoft to share his experience of his carrer in Microsoft catering to different roles and finally as an evangelist.
The whole event was organized and managed by Mr. Prashant Shetty, MITP Member (a great guy with great tech and managing capabilities, true helper) alongwith the collective efforts of other core members and volunteers of the usergroup. Would like to give special thanks to Vinay, Cyril, Hari, Sreekanth, Jenil, Charles, Hardik etc. for their help and constant support.
Overall, the event was a huge success with around 140 registrations which include IT-PRO's, Developers and Student Community folks.
Note: The Slides / Presentations will be uploaded shortly.
Cheers,
Harmesh
