How many of us ever thought of getting certified on the technologies that we work on daily or on the technologies that we ever wished to worked on. Technologies catering to multi-domain areas,  covering both verticals – development to IT-PRO.

One such oppurtunity was provided by our very own MumbaiITPro Usergroup to all the technology lovers- especially the ITPRO’s(who turned out to be the lucky ones indeed).

MITP, for the first time introduced a two-day session/training for the IT Pro’s which was purely certification oriented. The intention of the two-day program was to make people aware and simultaneously expert on one of the hottest and at the same time widely used topic in every IT organization – VIRTUALIZATION.  Its the technology (which many of you might be wondering/might have heard or probably may have worked upon), which has definitely prooved to be a major factor in reducing costs for almost every organization.

This was indeed the luckiest thing for the ITPRO’s to gain the knowledge and simultaneously be certified on one of the hottest booming topic Virtualization. (Paper 70-659 : Microsoft Certified Virtualization Specialist).

This two-day(full-time) event was held on 17th and 18th of December, at Microsoft Office Campus – Santacruz, Kalina and was conducted by the experts in the Virtualization field - Mr. Bharat Gupta(MCT, MCVS), Mr. Shabbir Ahmed(MCT,CCIE,MCVS) and Mr. Muhammed(MCVS)

As the objective of the the session was purely to get people certified on Microsoft’s Virtualization Platform,the whole training plan was divided into two days covering the entire course-ware and core concepts.

Day-1 started with introduction to the core topic-Virtualization, its benefits, why its so powerful and widely used these days. The program clearly focused on the Microsoft’s Virtualization Product- Hyper-V!!

It covered right from the basic concepts as to what is Hyper-V, why is it better than other vendors etc to the actual core technical concepts like architecture, type 1 – type 2, Monolithic and Micro-Kernel, Hyper-V Clusters etc.

Post-Lunch session involved a few demos on the product itself. The speaker had created a small lab set-up for demonstrating the concepts to the audience. The demos actually really helped the participants in grasping and understanding the core concepts of the Hyper-V product.

The agenda for the Day-2 was decided such that after the entire course-ware is covered by our speaker – Mr. Bharat, the participants will be benefitted by a quick walkthrough again at the end by our co-speaker Mr. Shabbir Ahmed.

Day-2 was a more hectic as the participants were emerged in the core concepts involving Hyper-V Clusters, Snapshots, Storage Management etc. The speaker also showed us the usage of one of the products from  Microsoft’s System Center Suite – SCVMM (System Center Virtual Machine Manager)

Bharta provided a brief outline as to why SCVMM is required im managing the entire Virtual Machines. Bharat also provided demos on creating Hyper-V Cluster, Taking Snapshots, P2V and V2V implementation, importing and exporting of the Virtual Machines etc.

Post -Lunch demos were pretty interesting and kept the participants on their toes to grasp more.

Finally, our co-speaker Mr. Shabbir Ahmed provided a brief outline on the Licensing Structure of the Microsoft Product along with the walk-through of the course-ware.

Day-2 was concluded by providing the participants with discount coupons for the certification exam.
